Watching the sunset in the Tirasberg.

Mozambique has many beutiful beaches.  They are very popular with South Africans in the school holidays so we've always avoided those times and have not needed to booking anywhere in advance.   As we have not been to Mozambique since 2012 some of the camps may not exist or have changed a lot.         

The map shows the campsites that we've used in Mozambique over the past few years. Below the map is information about them, listed in alphabetical order. Sites:   Overlooking the beach.  

 Other:   You need a 4x4 to reach the site as there's loose sand to go through. This was our favourite site in Mozambique. It's in a wonderful location overlooking the bay -great sunsets and there's plenty of shade.

Sites:   A small site next to the beach.  There's no shade and if it's windy you're very exposed.

 Other:   DO NOT stay there on a Friday or Saturday night unless you want to be up all night as the music from the bar/restaurant is LOUD (we were warned by the manager).

 Other:   The campsite is near the Lodge which has good facilities - pool, bar restaurant and free wi-fi internet access however the location is rather disappointing as to see any animals you have to drive into the Park.

 Other:   There's a bar, restaurant and pool at the nearby Lodge (M50 pp to use the pool). The campsite is a useful stopover between Zimbabwe and the Mozambique beaches.

Sites:  There are several covered bomas and a few trees in a large field.

 Other:   A useful stop-over to the north of Maputo. There's a bar, restaurant and pool.

Electric:       Yes, from a generator between 8 am to 12 pm and 4pm to 10pm. 

Sites:  Most of the campsites are near the beach which can be quite windy - it's an extra R180 for a barraca. There are 4 pitches overlooking the lagoon (we preferred these).

 Other:   The lodge is between the sea and a large lagoon. There's a pool, bar and restaurant and lots of activities on offer - snorkeling, diving, horse riding and ocean safaris to name but a few.
