Augrabies Falls National Park. (January 2019) Location: About 50km NW of Kakamas. S28.59276° E20.33488° Contact: www.sanparks.org/parks/augrabies/ Cost: See website. Cards accepted. Ablutions: Clean. Hot water. Electric: Yes. You may need a long lead. Sites: There are several grassed areas but you're not allowed to camp on them. There are braai stands dotted around the outside of the grassed areas, some have shade.
Other: There's a restaurant and 2 nice swimming pools. There are boardwalks with viewing platforms along the Orange Rive gorge. Brandvlei. Oom Benna's. (January 2019) Location: 15km north of Brandvlei. S30.32997° E20.52328° Contact: www.oombennas.co.za Cost: R150pppn. No cards. Ablutions: Spotless. Hot water from a gas boiler. Electric: No. Sites: Just 1 campsite next to self-catering accommodation.
Other: You have the use of a room with washing up sink, chairs, a large chest freezer and bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. No light pollution so great star viewing at night. Britstown. Kambro Accommodation and Farm Stall. (January 2019) Location: 21km north of Britstown. S30.41614° E23.56441° Contact: www.kambroaccom.co.za Cost: R270 for 2 people for 1 night. Cards accepted. Ablutions: Spotless. Hot water. Electric: Yes. Sites: There are 5 sites each with a grassed area, braai, electric point and drinking water tap. Numbers 1, 3 and 5 have the best shade.
Other: Close to the N12 so some noise from traffic overnight. There's a padstal with meat, jams, chuntneys, gifts etc and a restaurant. There's a large pool which was a bit green but fine for swimming. Useful for an overnight stop. Douglas. Broadwater River Estate. (January 2019) Location: About 10km NE of Douglas. S29.0254034°; E23.887195° Contact: www.broadwater.co.za Cost: R290 for 2 people for 1 night. Cards accepted. Ablutions: Private bathroom. Clean. Hot water. Electric: Yes. Sites: Situated on the banks of the Vaal River. Each site has a private bathroom, scullery and power point.
Other: There's a pool, bar and restaurant. Grobblershoop. Kheis Riverside Lodge. (January 2019) Location: 5km NE of Grobblershoop. S28.83875° E22.07149° Contact: www.kheisriverside.co.za Cost: R120 pppn. Cards accepted. Ablutions: Clean. Hot water. Electric: Yes. Sites: There are 9 marked sites. Numbers 2 and 13 have a view of the river and are on sand. The rest are behind the chalets and are on grass. All have braai /fire stands and electric points.
Other: The site is on the banks of the Orange River. There's a bar and restaurant. Melton Wold Guest Farm Location: 40km west of Victoria West. S31 26 39.3 E22 45 23.7 Contact: meltonwold.co.za Cost: R200 for 2 poeple for 1 night. Ablutions: Clean. Hot showers. Electric: Yes. Sites: 10 sites around a large grass field with an electric point, tap and braai.

Mokala National Park. (2012) Motswedi Camp Location: 60km SW of Kimberley. Contact: www.sanparks.org/parks/mokala Cost: R340 per night (2 people) Ablutions: Each site has it's own shower and toilet. Electric: No. Sites: There are 6 sitesverlooking a small waterhole. Each site has it's own kitchen area (stove and fridge) and ablutions. Hot water from solar panels.
Other: Other: The waterhole was regularly visited by wildlife when we were there. There are several routes that you can drive around the Park. Sutherland 1. Sterland Caravan Park Location: On the southern outskirts of Sutherland. S32 24 05.6 E20 39 34.4 Contact: Cost: R100 pppn. Ablutions: Clean. Hot water. Electric: Yes. Sites: 7 marked gravel sites amongst trees.

Sutherland 2. Verlatenkloof Guest Farm. Location: 25km south of Sutherland. S32 33 27.2 E20 33 12.6 Contact: www.verlatenkloof.co.za Cost: R240 for 2 people per night. Ablutions: Clean. Hot water from a donkey boiler. Electric: Yes. Sites: There are sereral sites amongst some trees.
Other: You have to negotiate deep gullies to get onto the sites - OK for off-road caravans but not others. This is a working farm with goats and sheep.
