We wanted to do another trip in South Africa before returning to the UK in February. After reading in a magazine that you can now visit the mining town of Oranjemund (in Namibia) at the mouth of the Orange RIver without a permit I suggested driving to Oranjemund and then following the Orange River back to The Drakensberg. We took a week to travel across The Karoo to the mouth of the RIver and then a couple of weeks to drive back.  

From Bloemfontein we used back roads, often gravel, as far as possible.

1. Across The Karoo to Oranjemund.  Bloemfontein, Britstown, Carnarvon, Brandvlei, Loeriesfontein, Springbok,  Port Nolloth.  

2. Orange River A.  Oranjemund, Richtersveld National Park, Aussenkehr, Viooldrift. 

 3 Orange RIver B. Klein Pella, Augrabies National Park, Keimoes, Groblershoop, Douglas, Orania,
