Malawi 2011.We had 6 weeks in Malawi spending some time by the Lake but also visiting National Parks & upland area of the country. It's certainly very different from the other Southern African countries that we've visited mainly because of its small size and huge population.- its one of the most densely populated countries in Africa. The local people were always friendly, courteous and helpful which is one of the reasons that it's very popular with backpackers from Europe. We saw very few overland vehicles like ours but we did meet lots of backpackers, including several women travelling on their own, and they all found travelling around the country to be safe.
