Botswana, February 2012.

For the last part of this trip we spent 4 weeks in Botswana, mostly visiting places that we'd been to before over the last 3 1/2 years but this time we were pulling a trailer. On the tar roads you hardly notice the trailer but on the sandy tracks of the kalahari it did slow us down a bit and we certainly used a lot more fuel. However those disadvantages were more than made up for by being able to leave everything at a campsite for early morning & late afternoon drives.

Including all 3 parts of this trip, the Drakensberg, the Lowveld and Botswana, we covered 7490 km and used 774 litres of diesel. This comes out at 9.68 km per litre or 10.3 litres for 100km which we were pleased with considering we were pulling a trailer and that in the Central Kalahari and Kgalagadi the sandy tracks nearly doubled our fuel consumption.

2. Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

3. Tsodilo Hills & Okavango Panhandle.

4. Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
