KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa 2014 - Chelmsford Dam

During the Easter holidays we took our great nephews, Jason and Mark, to Chelmsford Dam, which is just south of Newcastle, for a few days fishing. On the first day they didn't catch anything so the following day we found a fishing shop in Newcastle and one of the guys there was very helpful, explaining to the twins what bait they should try. From then on they caught plenty of fish! All except 2 were returned to the dam, one we cooked on the braai one evening and we took the other back to Richmond to give to their Granddad.

Mark with a grass carp.

Jason caught this silver carp.

I also did a bit of fishing (with a lot of help from the boys) and managed to land this fish.

A landing net with a longer handle would have been useful!

A lovely sunset one evening.
