Kalahari 2009.

Originally we intended to spend 3 weeks or so exploring the Kalahari but had to change our plans slightly and miss out some of the area of Botswana that we'd intended visiting. As a result we had more time in Namibia and were able to visit Luderitz, which is in the Namib Desert on the West Coast of Namibia and the Fish RIver Canyon.

The kalahari isn't a desert but a semi-arid region - and the largest continuous area of sand in the world, covering parts of South Afrrica, Namibia and most of Botswana. We went in March/April after the summer rains so much of it was covered in tall grasses.
