Northern Cape, South Africa 2009.

The Northern Cape is the largest province in South Africa but has the smallest population as it mainly consists of the semi-arid regions of The Karoo and The Kalahari. Earlier this year we visited the northern part of the province (Kgalagadi National Park and Augrabies National Park),

On our way to Namibia we wanted to go across to the West Coast area which is renowned for its spring flower displays - which are dependant on the timing and amount of winter rainfall this region receives (unlike most of the rest of South Africa which gets its rainfall in the summer months).
