Zimbabwe 2010 - Kokomori Bush Camp, South Africa

After leaving Polokwane we drove towards the Martin's Drift border crossing with Botswana and stayed at Kokomori Bush Camp and Birders' Lodge (S23 03.050 E27 56.288) for 3 days. The campsite was near the Limpopo river, which is the border with Botswana.

After a couple of weeks of World Cup excitement it was good to have a few days on our own and just relax!

We were able to walk and drive round the small reserve and saw lots of birds, especially near the river.

The Limpopo river

One of the dams near the river.

There were hundreds of butterflies near our campsite but it took me ages to get any reasonable photos as they never kept still for very long.

Many termite mounds can be seen in the reserve. This one was at least 3m high.

We enjoyed our time here so much that we stayed here for a night on our way back to Richmond after visiting Zimbabwe.

In Borswana we camped at Woodlands Stop Over which is just outside Francistown. It's a very usful place to stay if travelling between South Africa and Kasane or Maun.
